SUNRISE FESTIVAL 2021

To give the festival’s scenographic setting a coherent artistic direction, we based it on a narrative that would give meaning to the designed structures and root them in a tangible reality. Our goal was to create a festival scenography that wouldn’t feel like a mere imitation. We envisioned the festival zone as a temporary town built by its own inhabitants. The materials used reflect this concept. The structures are made from prefabricated elements such as containers, steel pipes, ventilation ducts, corrugated and trapezoidal sheet metal, steel profiles, trusses, scaffolding, and pallets. These are components that require no prior fabrication—only finishing and spatial arrangement.

The layout of the courtyard is inspired by the traditional form of a town square. The façades of the buildings surrounding the central plaza frame a focal point—in this case, a temple. It is also the intersection of main circulation paths. This led us to enrich the space with an additional function: wayfinding. The structures and façades around the courtyard, regardless of their primary use, serve as color-coded guides, leading visitors toward the stages they’re interested in.
