Warszawa – Expo Real 2024

In today's world, with its accumulating problems and challenges, we are faced with a question: Do trade fairs make sense? Is it justified in terms of environmental protection? The presented project is an attempt to find a balance between social responsibility and the positive aspects that trade events bring. The two structures housing the VIP room and back areas are built from modular units. These modules form various-sized shelves with integrated planters. They serve as a structural part of the walls, but after the trade fair, they can be repurposed as shelves, planters, balcony vegetable gardens, or insect hotels and offered for public use by the residents of Warsaw. The exterior design of the façade pays homage to Warsaw architect Marek Leykam and his use of the architectural detail known as "razor blades," which are distinctive vertical divisions framing windows. This also references contemporary architecture emerging in Warsaw. The structure supporting the planters and the suspended elements can also be reused. What city, if not Warsaw—still experiencing a period of prosperity—can be a leader and initiator of change? Following the example of Marek Leykam, whose designs significantly contributed to the city's post-World War II reconstruction, we too can strive to live according to the principles of sustainable development and the regeneration of our planet. This ecological awareness, as presented, will undoubtedly positively influence the city's perception among international investors and strengthen Warsaw’s long-standing image as a modern, dynamic city, while simultaneously caring for sustainable development and the well-being of its residents.
